CNRA is pleased to announce that Matthew Buckman, a former National Referee and a current State Instructor for US Soccer, was appointed Director of Referee Development for Cal-North on May 22, 2017. In this role he will lead the Referee Academy, oversee all referee instruction throughout the state, and work individually with referees in Cal-North who work top amateur, professional and international matches in the state.
“I am very excited to add Matt to the CNRA leadership team. His experience officiating at all levels in Cal North, from youth all the way to professional matches, will be a valuable resource for match officials and instructors of all levels in Cal North.” said Said Ravanfar, CNRA State Referee Administrator.
As a National Referee for US Soccer, Buckman has extensive experience refereeing professional matches, having regularly officiated USL Pro and international friendlies in northern California. A lifelong resident of northern California and a referee in Cal North for over 20 years, Matthew also brings a detailed knowledge of CNRA and relationships with administrators throughout the state to this position.
