State Referee Administrator Said Ravanfar and CNRA Director of Referee Development Matthew Buckman announced the new Grade 5 Referee Standard for 2018 and beyond. The new standard reflects the higher demands of the matches that Grade 5 Referees will be expected to officiate in 2018 in Cal North, and aligns with the U.S. Soccer Federation’s expectation that Grade 5 Referees are imminently eligible for selection as a National Referee.
Additionally, the policy for requesting an assessment from a National Referee Coach (formerly National Assessor) has been revised to reflect the modifications to the Referee Academy.
