The California North Referee Administration congratulates former referee, player, coach, and current instructor Esse Baharmast for being named the 2020 recipient of U.S. Soccer’s highest honor, the Werner Fricker Builder Award.
This award is given to an individual or group of individuals who dedicate at least 20 years of service to the sport, working to establish a lasting legacy in the history and structure of soccer in the United States. First awarded in 2002, the award recognizes those who have developed programs that will outlast their own involvement in the sport.
Esse is only the second referee in U.S Soccer history to receive this prestigious honor. He was presented with his award on February 15 at the 2020 U.S. Soccer Annual General Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.
